SMOKE FILLED ROOM
Old man with the eyes of gold, tell me what do you know.
You have seen a hundred years or so, you’ve watched many lives unfold.
From the vantage of your wisdom you know so much to be true.
But we don’t learn from you.
We’re just lost in a smoke filled room.
Faded plans, jaded yesterdays, so we walk on broken glass.
We hope it’s just a passing faze. Still we wait for it to pass.
As we search ourselves for purpose that is true.
We build ourselves a house with a view.
But still we gaze thru a foggy haze that looms.
There in our smoke filled rooms.
Little boy with the smiling eyes and the innocence of youth.
Maybe you can help us realize, maybe lead us to the truth.
It seems as if we’re hypnotized, forsaken by so many lies.
We try not to be paralyzed by the boredom that we feel.
Can you help us to remember what really matters, what is real.
